Benefits of Window Tint and the Different Types of Films

If you’re considering tinting your vehicle’s windows, you’re probably wondering which type of film is best for you. With several options on the market, it can be overwhelming to choose the right one for your needs.

At Coastal Tinting here in Rincon, GA, we’re here to help break down the different types of window tint and their benefits so you can make an informed decision. Whether you’re looking for added privacy, UV protection, or a cooler driving experience, we’ve got you covered.

Why Tint Your Windows?

Before diving into the various types of window tint, let’s take a quick look at the benefits of window tinting. Window tinting provides a variety of advantages that go beyond aesthetics:

The sun’s harmful UV rays can damage your skin and fade the interior of your vehicle. Tinted windows can block up to 99% of these harmful rays, protecting you and your vehicle from long-term damage.

Tinted windows can help keep your car cooler by reducing the amount of heat that enters through your windows. This is especially beneficial during those hot summer months, as it reduces the need for air conditioning and improves overall comfort.

With tinted windows, you gain added privacy by limiting the view inside your vehicle. This can make you feel safer by deterring potential thieves who may be less likely to target your car if they can’t see valuables inside.

Tinted windows reduce glare from the sun and headlights, making driving more comfortable and less straining on your eyes. This is particularly helpful for those who spend a lot of time on the road.

Tinted windows add a sleek look to your car, elevating its overall appearance.

Another often-overlooked benefit of window tinting is it can have the ability to help hold shattered glass together in the event of an accident. When glass breaks, the tint can help keep the shards from scattering,  potentially reducing the mess and harm.

Different Types of Window Tint

At Coastal Tinting, we offer three high-quality window tint films under the Geosheild line: Dyed Window Tint, Carbon Window Tint, and Ceramic Window Tint. Each of these films provides unique benefits, allowing you to choose the one that best suits your needs.

Dyed Window Tint (Pro Classic Film)

The Dyed Window Tint is an excellent choice for those who want a budget-friendly option with a clean, classic look. This film provides excellent UV protection, blocking up to 99% of harmful rays. While it doesn’t offer heat rejection like other options, it enhances the aesthetics of your car while offering privacy and a sleek appearance.

Additionally, the Dyed Window Tint is 2 mil thick, which provides extra durability. In the unfortunate event of an accident, instead of the glass shattering into small pieces, the tint helps hold the shattered glass together, potentially reducing the mess and danger. Carbon Window Tint (Nano Carbon Film)

Next up is the Carbon Window Tint, a step up from the dyed film in terms of both performance and durability. This film blocks more heat and provides better protection against UV rays, keeping your car cooler and more comfortable during the summer months. The Carbon Window Tint also has a sleek, matte finish that enhances your car’s appearance, giving it a modern and sophisticated look. In addition to blocking more infrared heat, carbon film will not fade over time, making it a durable and long-lasting option. Learn more about Carbon Window Tint here.

Ceramic Window Tint (Pro Nano Ceramic Film)

For the highest level of heat reduction and UV protection, Ceramic Window Tint is the top choice. Made from advanced ceramic materials, this tint offers superior performance without compromising visibility. Ceramic Window Tint blocks up to 99% of UV rays and provides excellent heat rejection, keeping the interior of your car cooler and more comfortable even on the hottest days.

Unlike other films, ceramic tints will not interfere with electronic signals such as GPS or mobile reception. This makes it an ideal choice for those who want the best in performance, comfort, and durability. Learn more about Ceramic Window Tint here.

Carbon vs. Ceramic Tinting

Which Is Right for You?

When it comes to choosing between carbon and ceramic tinting, the decision largely comes down to your specific needs and budget. If you’re looking for a more affordable option that still provides significant heat reduction and UV protection, carbon tinting is a solid choice. However, if you’re seeking the highest level of performance and durability, ceramic tinting is unmatched. It offers superior heat rejection, no signal interference, and the best UV protection, making it the ultimate choice for long-term comfort.

Will took his time to explain the different types of tint and thoroughly explain the pros/cons of each. We went with a ceramic 70% on the front windshield and 35% on the front windows. It turned out great. We are glad that we ended up going with ceramic on the front windshield as it will dramatically help the interior longevity. Would highly recommend Will at Coastal Tinting.

I wish I would have found this installer months ago. The tint job was of the highest quality of work. I had been to another business in the area and the install was sloppy and the film had to be taken off and reapplied because of the items caught under the film and dirty windows. This is bar far the best quality of window tint I have had on any of my vehicles. Coastal Tinting will get all of of my further business.
